In court, he has seen bartenders fudge on bar tabs, and many fall back on the fact that they have been certified through drinking-awareness programs like ServSafe or TIPS. In those cases, Savage often asks, "Do you get tips when you cut people off?" The answer is usually no, he says — nobody gets good tips for doing the right thing and telling a customer he's had enough for the evening.
